The usual, catch me, grooming, etc. Also before mounting: yoyo—really good did one time only. Then circle—nice responsiveness. Lastly some sideways being more particular. Got us in a good pleasant, responsive, LBI mood.
Ride in the "hilly" field: warmup—Try choose the speed of the gait, then walk, trot, canter, million transitions, follow the imaginary rail, transitions not just between gaits but primarily within gaits. Important: watching my body to cue transitions without extraneous movement. Try was just lovely—great impulsion going uphill at the trot and canter and some really nice sitting trot also (as opposed to jog).
Habits: maintain position in transitions especially into the canter and from canter to trot.
No stirrups: 2 laps w/o stopping 2x a week.
Warmup: not just at a walk, at trot and canter and allow Try to set the speed within the gait that she desires in the beginning.
