She just needed that to release frustrated energy over the lack of comfort in her life at present: hot, flies biting in her pasture and on a diet when in her stall. Wednesday they were in during the day and the night for a storm to add to the frustration.
(Freestyle, 60 mins) warmup, walk/trot/canter in dressage saddle working on my position and global sense of relaxation and playing with soft contact for just a bit. Also 6 laps of canter to help Try with weight gain issues.
Keystone:
(On Line, 45 mins) nice long grooming session--very relaxed, dwell time in the ring, relaxed sponging after our ride and grazing back to his pasture.
Finesse, 60 mins) Played more with concepts from yesterday of light contact and my position and Keystone really responded favorably to my making progress in what I am doing. When I found position of elbows controlling, relaxed soft contact, resting hands, soft/closed fingers, he actually would not only improve his gait but offer a bit of vertical flexion. We found this a few times for perhaps 20-30 strides and then would lose it. Finished with canter coming more uphill to better engage HQ--goals to be able to do 2 laps maintaining that.
